Mo, Cl, or MoCl.. Dichloride; stable, amorphous yellow substance, ance, insoluble in water; obtained by the dec on decomposition of the higher chlorides under the influence of heat.-MoCl,. Trichloride; obtained as a wool-like sublimate, upon heating the pent a chloride in hydrogen; insoluble in water. Its vapor is dark blue.-MoCl.. Tetrachloride; brown crystalline powder, made by heating the trichloride at a red heat in the presence of carbon dioxide; decomposed by water.-MoCl. Pent a chloride; dark-green crystals, mpt. 194° C. It boils at 268° C., forming a dark-red vapor. and is made by heating the metal gently in hydrochloric acid gas.
