An 'lanine. alkaloid of not definitely determined composition obtained from dulcamara and from potato sprouts; it causes nausea and vomiting, dryne of the fauces, vertigo, headache, weak pulse, and muscular tremors or convulsions. I'anoid [L. solanum + G. eidos, resemblance.] Resembling a potato in texture, said of certain malignant growths. + A lano'ma [L. solanum G. -oma.] solanoid neoplasm. la'num [L. nightshade.] A genus of plants of the order Solanacets, including various species of nightshade as well as the potato.
