DISLOCATION

(Lat. dislocare, to putout of place.) A surgical term, synonymous with luxation. " When the articular surfaces of bones are forced out of their proper situation, they are said to be dislocated or luxated. A considerable share of anatomical knowledge is required to detect the nature of these accidents; and it is much to be lamented that students neglect to inform themselves sufficiently upon the subject.
