Verb

(vürb.) [From L. verbum, literally, a word.] (Gram.) A part of the speech, consisting of an attribute affirmed. Verbs are divided into transitive, intransitive, and pa ive. A verb substantive expre es mere affirmation, without reference to any property or attribute. [s. 934]
