Town in Asiatic Turkey on the right bank of the Euphrates, 63 m. s. of Bagdad, facing the ruins of Babylon. It the ranges contain glaciers on an immense scale. IMG:content-0594.png:[graphic] IMG:content-0595.png:[graphic][subsumed] Hillah. is fortified with earthen ramparts, a ditch, wall with four gates, and a citadel. It is a healthy town with manufactures of silk fabrics. Pop. 30,000.
