canell (kanel)

Same as canaille, 2. Canellal (ka-nel'ä), n. [NL. (> F. cannelle, ca neller (> E. cannel2, q. v.) = Sp. canela = Pg. canela, canella = It. cannella, formerly also canella), bark. This bark has a pleasant cinnamon-like odor and a bitter pungent taste, and is used in the West Indies as a condiment and in medicine as an aromatic stimulant. 2.
