Douro, (dodro,) a large river of Spain, rising on the borders of Aragon, and, flowing W., traverses more than half the width of Spain, and the whole of Portugal. After a course of about 510 m., it falls into the Atlantic, 3 m. from Oporto. Its basin is the largest in the Spanish peninsula. The wine country of the Douro begins 50 m. to the E. of Oporto.
