(ad-jus’-ter) [Fr. , adjuster, to adjust]. I. He who or that which adjusts. 2. A device formerly used for the forcible reduction of dislocations. Adjustment, Coarse. The rack and pinion for raising or lowering the tube of a microscope a considerable distance. A., Fine, the micrometer screw generally at the top of the column of a microscope for raising or lowering the tube slowly through a short distance. 35
