Extradition

the act by which a person accused of a crime is given up by the government in whose territories he has taken refuge to the government of which he is a subject. Conventions have been entered into by the United States with almost all civilized coune tries for the apprehension and extra dition of persons charged with pars ticular offenses, especially those of the most heinous stamp.
