antiquarians have proclaimed it the work of North men of the eleventh century. But more recent investigations have quite satisfactorily proved it to have been a windmill erected by Governor Arnold, of l Rhode Island, some time between 1670 and 1680. The design corresponds to that of a mill in Chester ton, England.
