Inflammation of the uvula. uvuloptosis (u’vu-lop-to’sis) [uzula + Gr. πτῶσις falling]. Falling of the palate: a relaxed and pendulous condition of the palate; staphyloptosis. uvulotome (u’vu-lo-t6m) [wed a + Gr. réuvew to cut]. An instrument for cutting off the uvula. uvulotomy (u-vu-lot’o-me). The operation of cutting off the uvula or a part of it. usara (u-zah’rah).
