pippin faced

Having a round, smooth, reddish face, like a pippin. pip-pul, s. [PEEPUL.] pi-prą, s. [Gr. pipra =the woodpecker.] Ornith.: The typical genus of the family Pipride (q. v.). Bill weak, upper mandible bent over lower, which is flattened and nearly straight; wings rounded; tail short, even; toes syndactyle. Nineteen species, from tropical America.
