Charles Newdigate (only son of Charles Newdigate Newdegate of Hare field place, Middle sex, d. 1833). b. 14 July 1816; ed. at Eton 1829–34, and at Ch. Ch. Oxf., B.A. 1849, M.A. 1859, D.C.L. 1863; M.P. for North War wicks hire 11 March 1843–85; a great opponent of the church of Rome; P.C. 6 Feb. 1886; presented by his War wicks hire constituents with an illuminated addre and £547, 1886; published between 1849 and 1852 many letters on The balance of trade, ascertained from the market value of all articles imported; author of A collection of the customs’ tariffs of all nations 1855; Speech on the state of Ireland and the proposals for the establishment of a Roman catholic university 1868. d. Arbury hall, War wicks hire 9 April 1887. bur. Hare field church 15 April.
