born in 1831, led a brigade at Hanover Court House and Gaines’ Mills. He commanded a corps at Fred ericks burg and was chief of staff at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Lookout Moun. tain and Mi ionary Ridge. He commanded a division at Resaca, Dallas and Kenesaw. He resigned in 1869 and was for some time Sub. Treasurer of the United States in New York.
