Hydradephaga

(hi-dra-def’a-gii), n. pl. [NL., neut. pl. of *hydradephagus: see hydradephagous.) The aquatic and adephagous beetles, comprising the two families Dytiscidw and Gyrinide, in which the legs are fitted for swimming: distinguished from Geadephaga. Macleay, 1825. The group is also called Hydro canthari.
