Spider-hoop

An iron hoop round a mast a little above an upper-deck, having holes for the reception of belaying-pins. See Plate 90 A. 3. Also one round a mast, top-mast etc. a short distance below the trestle-trees, to which the lower end of „ Futtock-shrouds ” are secured.
