Thiry’s Fistula

{thee’-rez). A fistula for obtaining the intestinal juice. A piece of intestine about four inches long is separated from the bowel, without dividing the mesentery and its blood-ve els. One end of the tube is closed, the other is stitched to the abdominal wound. The two ends of intestine from which the piece was cut out are then united by sutures. From the excised piece a pure intestinal juice is obtained. 624
