Kushan

Town in n. e. Persia, the scene in 1893 of an earthquake, which completely destroyed the town and all the villages within 7 miles of it, killing ab. 12,000 people. From Nov. 17 to Nov. 24 there were counted 160 distinct shocks. Pop. 12,000.
