Prince, Thomas

(1687-1758), was connected with the Old South Church in Boston, from 1718 to 1758. He collected many valuable maguscripts and documents relating to New England history, many of which were destroyed by the British in 1776. He wrote an accurate and scholarly ‘‘ Chronological History of New England.” _ Prince Society, an organization established in Boston for publishing only. It has i ued a series of valuable annotated volumes relating to the early history of Ma achusctts. ‘‘Princeton.’? February 28, 1844, President Tyler and a large party sailed down the Potomac on the man-of-war ‘‘ Princeton,’’ to see Commodore Stock ton’s ‘‘ Peacemaker’? throw its 200-pound balls, The ‘‘ Peacemaker ’’ exploded and many people were killed, among them two members of the Cabinet, Abel P, Upshur, Secretary of State, and Thomas W.
