Zetetic

ze-tet'ik, a. Proceeding by inquiry. [Gr. ze- tetikos, zetein, to seek.] — Zetet'ics, n. sing. (Math.) A branch of algebra which relates to the direct search for unknown quantities. Zeugma, zQg' ma, n. (Oram.) A figure by which an adjective or verb, which agrees with a nearer word, is,hy way of supplement, referred also to another more remote. [Gr., fr. zeugnunai, to yoke = E. to join, ZibV' zib'et, n. A small carnivorous quadruped of India and Africa, somewhat resembling the weasel secretes an odoriferous civet-like substance and is often domesticated. [It. zibet to civet, q. v.]
