Same as barbellate. barbule (bär'bul), n. [L. barbula, dim. of barb a, beard.] 1. A small barb, as of a plant; a little beard. Also barbula. -2. In ornith., one of a series of pointed, barb-like proce es fringing the barbs of a feather.
