1, The le ee of a farm. It 1s said that every le ee for life or years, although it be but of a small house and land, is called "farmer." This word implies no mystery, except it be that of husbandman. Cunning ham; Cowell. · 2. A husbandman or agriculturist; one· who cultivates a farm, wiiether the land be his own or another's. 3. One who a umes the collection of the public re.venues, taxes,.excise, etc., for a certain commi ion or percentage; as a farmer of the revenues. [s. 490]
