[Greek daphne; Latin pl. adj. suff. -ia.] Zool.: A genus of Entomostraca, order Cladocera, puler is the Common family Daphniadheadphard rounded above and in front; superior antenne very small; the head spherical, with about twenty lenses; jaws.composed produced or le prominent beak; eye of a strong body ending in four horny spines, three of which curve inward. The antenne act as oars, by which the animals project themselves by a series of jerks through the water. They are frequently very numerous in ponds and ditches, which they often color, especially when the water is a favorite and interesting microscopic object.
