Sandiver

(săn'de-vŭr.) A product of the gla furnaces. When the materials used in the manufacture of gla are melted, a scum arises which has to be removed, this is called san diver, and is, when powdered, used as a polishing material, and formerly had a considerable reputation as a tooth-powder. [s. 794]
