Quassia

(kwash'yah.) (Bot.) A genus of trees, O. Simarubacex. The wood of Q. amara, a lofty tree of the West Indies described as similar in appearance to the common ash, was formerly used under the name of Surinam Qua ia; but it appears to be no longer exported for medicinal purposes, the qua ia in use being furnished by the allied Picræna excels a.
