BMP TELUGUS

[s. 749] : A non-Aryan or Dravidian race inhabiting the east coast of the peninsula of Hindu stan, India, north of the city of Madras and south of the Godavari River, and extending nearly 200 miles westward from the coast of the Bay of Bengal. The language of the Telugus is refined and has been called the Italian of Hindu stan. The number of Telugus is placed at about 20,000,000 by the census of 1901. ch135.xhtml t 749
