In med iæval art, emblem of ferocity and sensuality. In heraldry the boar is called Sanglier. The military ensigns of the Gauls were surmounted by figures of the wild boar. Boclerus , Med. Lat. A buckler; 14th century. The word is derived from the German Bock, a goat. Compare Ægis .
