A pa age of water between a main-land and an Island, connecting two larger waters as the Helsingoer-Sound between the South coast of Sweden and the Danish Island Zealand connecting the Baltic with the Cattegat; or the Long-Island-Sound between Long-Island and the shore of the State of New-York.
