[ -ist .] One who is versed in quinology. quinology (kwi-nol'ō-ji), n. [ quina + Gr. -λογία, scientific knowledge concerning quinine and other cinchona alkaloids. quinone (kwin'ōn), n. [ with chromic acid. It is in the form of a sublimate of fine golden-yellow crystals, slightly soluble in cold water and very volatile, and has a piercing irritating odor in the state of vapor. Also written kinone. quinquagenarian (kwin"kwa-je-nā'ri-an), a. [= F. quinquagénaire = Sp. quincuage nario = It. quin qua gena rio, and n. II. n. A person aged fifty or between fifty and sixty. Dancers of fifty are a very different sort of quinquagena rians from sitters of fifty. The New Mirror (1843), II. 34. quinquagesima (kwin-kwa-jes'i-mä), n. [L., fem. of quinquagesimus , fiftieth, quin quag int a , fifty: see fifty .] A period of fifty days. Quinquagesima Sunday, the Sunday immediately preceding Ash Wednesday, being the fiftieth day before Easter (both inclusive), and the last Sunday before Lent; Shrove Sun day. quinquangular (kwin-kwang'gū-lär), a . [ quinquangulus , five-cornered, quinque , E. five , + angulus , corner, angle: see angle3 .] Having five angles. quinquarticular (kwin-kwär-tik'ū-lär), a . [ quinque , E. five , + articulus , joint, article.] Consisting of or relating to five articles.
