Neo-Grec

Style of architecture attempted by some French architects ab. 1850, to introduce Greek lines in modern buildings without copying the features which exhibited them. A number of public and private buildings in France were produced in this style, and a considerable number of dwellings in the U. S. by architects educated in France and their pupils. But the movement which resulted in these works was neither extensive nor durable, and for twenty years no noteworthy attempt has been made in pursuance of it.
