(bag) [AS., boslg~\. I. A sac. 2. The scrotum. B., Barnes’s. A rubber bag shaped somewhat like a lyre, used for dilating the cervical canal. B., Politzer’s, a soft rubber bag for inflating the middle ear. B. of Waters, the fetal membranes enclosing the liquor amnii and projecting through the os uteri early in labor. The sac usually ruptures when the cervix is dilated. 135
