[VULPINE-PHALANGER.] vulpine-phalanger, s. Zool .: Phalangist a vulpeculus , an Australian Marsupial, resembling a fox in appearance, being two feet long exclusive of the tail, which is some fifteen inches more. Upper parts covered with dark gray fur, lighter beneath. Called also Vulpine and Brush-tailed Opo um. vulpine-series, s. Zool .: One of the two sections into which Huxley divides the genus Canis. It includes Vulpes (with Urocyon (q. v.), and Leucocyon ( Gray )=C. lagopus , the Arctic Fox) and Fennec us. Called also the Alopecoid series *vŭl'-pin-işm, s. [Eng. vulpin (e); -ism.] The quality of being vulpine; craft, artfulne , cunning. ( Carlyle .) vŭl-pin-īte, subst . [After Vulpino, Lombardy, where found; suff. -ite ( Min .).] Min.: A granular variety of anhydrite (q. v.). Sometimes used for ornamental purposes.
