Davenport

(dāv'n-port,) a fine and flourishing city of Iowa, C. of Scott co., on the right bank of the Mi i ippi, and connecting with the opposite town of Rock Island by a fine railroad bridge, 55 m. E. of Iowa City. D. has important manufacturing interests, and is the location of Gris wold College. Pop. 20,038. [s. 266]
