A common prefix meaning three, or threefold. In chemistry, a prefix joined to the names of certain compounds containing three acid atoms or radicles. monstrosities in which certain parts are inordinately enlarged through disease. 6. The ectopic. Those monstrosities in which a part is displaced through disease or injury.
