animal strength

The American Dictionary and Cyclopedia · 1910 · p. 23
[STRENGTH.] ăn-im-al-cu-lạ, s . pl . [The neut. pl. of Lat. animalculum , but not cla ic; compounded of animal, and the termination culum , signifying little.] Minute animals. Sometimes the word animalcula is mistaken by incorrect writers for a Latin noun of the first declension, and receives at their hands a plural animalcule . Such an error should be carefully avoided. [ANIMALCULE.]
