Fasciola

(fas-e’o-lah). A genus of flukes. F. hepat’ica, the common liver-fluke of sheep and goats; it is occasionally found in the human liver, where it may cause dangerous symptoms by obstructing the biliary pa ages, causing enlargement of the liver, with degeneration and cyst formation. Called also Distoma hepaticum.
