Guaiacum

(gwi'-ak-um). Lignum vitae. The heart of the tree, and also sanctum, a esin, of G. of ficin ale and G. Ithe ole or prompt diaphoretic, expectorant, and alterative, efficient in tonsillitis, neuralgic dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and rheumatism, and formerly much used as an antisyphilitic. Dose gr. G., Mist. (B. P.) G.. Resina, the resin of the wood of G. of ficin ale. G., Tinct., strength 20 percent. Dose j in mucilage. G., Tinct., Ammon i at., contains guaiac 20, and Dose n. aromatic spirit of ammonia 80 parts.
