A fi ure cro ing the under surface of the right lobe of the liver. 2. A horseshoe shaped fi ure extending from the descending cornu of the cerebrum on one side to that on the other. tym omastoid f. Same as auricular f. umbilical f., the anterior part of the lonitudinal fi ure of the liver. ἔ. of the vestiule, the crack by which the fenestra rotunda opens into the vestibule. Wernicke’s f., a fi ure that sometimes demarcates the parietal and temporal lobes from the occipital lobe. szygal f., a fi ure that consists of two portions united by a third portion. sygomaticosphenoid f., a fi ure between the orbital surface of the great wing of the sphenoid bone and the malar bone. fstula (fis’tu-lah), pl. fis’tude [L. “pipe”. A deep, sinuous ulcer, often leading to an internal hollow organ. abdominal f., a pa age leading from the abdominal surface to some one of the hollow abdominal viscera. aérial f., an opening in the neck leading to the trachea or other part of the air-pa ages. amphibolic f., an opening made into the gall-bladder of an animal in order to obtain bile for study. The common bileduct is left intact so that the bile may flow through it when the fistula is closed. anal f., a fistula near the anus, which may or may not communicate with the rectum. jiary f., a fistula into the gall-bladder. blind f., one that is open at one end only. blind f., external, a blind fistula that opens upon the skin. blind f., internal, one that opens upon a mucous surface. branchial f., an unclosed branchial cleft. f. cervicovaginal’is laqueat’ica, a fistula in the vaginal portion of the cervix uteri, between the uterine canal and the vagina. coccygeal f., a fistula near the coccyx leading to a dermoid cyst of that region. complete f., one that opens upon the skin and also upon an internal cavity.
