ENCEPHALOCELE

a protrusion of @ portion of the brain substance through an opening in the skull. It is more commonly a congenital condition; its importance depending upon its size and situation. It may be described as a visible tumor of the brain, in contradistinction to a_ cerebral tumour, which is understood as a growth inside the brain.
