Nematura (nematura)

(νηματ-), thread, d, + ουρά, tail.] In zoöl., of various genera. (a) In ornith.: (1) A genus of sand-grouse: a synonym of Syrrhaptes. Fischer, 1812. (2) A genus of Asiatic warblers, containing such as N. cya nur a, N. rufilata, etc. In this sense originally Nemura. Hodgson, 1844. (b) In conch., a genus of ri oid gastropods, subsequently named Stenothyra. Benson, 1836. (c) În entom., a genus of pseudo neuropterous insects of the family Perlidæ. The body is depre ed, and the abdomen ends in two long filaments; the labial palpi are short and approximate; and the second tarsal joint is very short. The larvæ are aquatic. The genus is a large one, and the species are wide-spread. They are known as willow -flies. Originally written Nemoura. Latreille, 1796. See cut under Perla. nem. con.
