or Wood-man, Her. A wild man, naked, or clothed in skins or leaves, and carrying a club. The illustration is the device of De Chaumont, Marshal of France (+ 1510), with the motto, “ Mitem animum agresti sub tegmine scabro,” which he bore embroidered on the pennon of his company.
