in Greek legend, was a priest of Neptune among the Trojans, who was killed, with his two sons, by two serpents sent by Apollo. The tale served as the subject of a most beautiful group of sculpture found in the ruins of the palace of Titus, at Rome, in 1506, and now placed in the Vatican. Le ing’s " Laocoon " is a fine piece of criticism.
