Denison, Ven. G. A

is brother of the late Lord O ington, speaker of the House of Commons, 1857-72; of the Bishop of Salisbury, 1837- 54; and of Sir William Denison, K.C.B., Governor of Tasmania, Sydney, Madras, 1846-66. The archdeacon, as member of the Lower House of Convocation from revival of Convocation in 1852, was chairman of committees reporting in condemnation of E ays and Reviews, and of Bishop Colenso's writings on the Old Testament. The Elementary Education Act conditioned the public grant upon the change of the schools of the Church of England into state schools, and in the attend ent controversy he bore a prominent part. In December, 188 267 5, after the general election, he i ued a pamphlet, Mr. Gladstone, in its 7th you sand, March, 1886.
