Plunket, Right Hon

and Most Rev. William Conyngham, Lord, D.D. (Trinity College, Dublin, 1876), lord archbishop of Dublin, Glendalough, and Kildare, Church of Ireland, second son of Lord Plunket; b. in Dublin, Ireland, in the year 1828; succeeded to the title on the death of his father in 1871; graduated B.A. at Trinity College, Dublin, 1853, M.A. 1864; was ordained deacon 1857, priest 1858: was rector of Kilmoylan and Cummer, Tuam, 1858-64; chaplain and private secretary to the bishop of Tuam, and treasurer of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, 1864-67; precentor of St. Patrick's, 1869-77; consecrated lord bishop of Meath, 1876; translated to archbishopric of Dublin, 1884.
