Luthardt, Chris toph Ernst

Lie. Theol., Ph.D., D.D. (all Erlangen, 1852, 1854, and 1856 respectively), Luther an; b. at Mar olds we is ach, Bavaria, March 22, 1823; studied at Erlangen and Berlin, 1841-45; was ordained at Miinden, 1846; from 1846 till 1851 was teacher in the Munich gymnasium; until 1854 repetent at Erlangen, and privat-docent 1853-54; for the next two years profe or extraordinary at Marburg; since 1856 has been profe or of systematic theology and New- Testament exegesis at Leipzig; and since 1865 a consistorial councillor. In theology he is orthodox, and in general belongs to the Erlangen school. He is renowned as a university lecturer and pulpit orator. Since 1S6S he has edited the All gem eine evang. luth. Kirchenzeitung, and since 1880 Das Theologisch- Literaturblatt and Die Zeitschrift fur Kirchl. Wis sens chaft und Kirchl. Leben.
