[Sp., the alette alet larch, prob. tree. cla ification of fishes, a division of Scopelid a, containing those with the dorsal fin occupying nearly the entire length of the back; a group corresponding to the family A lep i do sau rid a (which see). Preferably written Alepidosau rinæ, as a subfamily.
