[Pref. sub-, and Eng. ovate, .] Somewhat ovate; approaching an egg in shape, but having the inferior extremity broadest. †sub-păr'-al-lěl, a. [Pref. sub- , and English parallel (q. v.).] Bot.: Nearly parallel. Used of the primary veins of a leaf when they diverge from the midrib at an angle between 10° and 20°.
