The metal of which gongs are ing the principal cir made. gòn-gòn-hạ, s. [A Brazilian word.] Bot.: A kind of holly, Ilex gongonha, used in Brazil for making tea. It is diuretic and diaphoretic. gon-gör-a, s. [Named after Antony Caballero y Gongora, formerly viceroy of New Granada.] Bot .: A fine genus of orchids, tribe Vandee. They have lance-shaped leaves more than a foot long, and drooping flower racemes two feet. About twelve species are known. They grow on stems in tropical America.
