rhizomonas

[Pref. rhizo-, and Mod. Lat. monas (q. v.).] Zool.: A genus of Rhizoflagellata, with a single specios, Rhizomonas verrucosa, found by Saville Kent in hay-infusions. *rhi-zo-mor-pha, subst . A genus of Spalacine (q. v.), with six species, from Aby in i a, North India, Malacca, and South China. It differs from the typical genus in having the eye uncovered. trhi-zoph-a-ga, s. pl. [RHIZOPHAGUS.] Zool.: Root-eaters; a tribe of Marsupials, with one family Phascolomyidae (q. v.). Two scalpriform incisors in both jaws; no canines; stomach vermiform appendage: ( Owen . ) with a special gland; cæcum short, wide, with a rhi-zoph-a-go us, a. [RHIZOPHAGUS.] Feeding or subsisting on roots. rhi-zoph-a-gŭs, s. [Prefix rhizo- (q. v.), and Gr. phage in to eat.] Entom.: A genus of Nitidulide.
