Dose, 3-10 min. (0.2-0.066 c.c.). Froh- mann’s 8., an aqueous solution of cocain hydro chlorate, morphin hydro chlorate, sodium chlorid, antipyrin, and guaiacol: used as a local anesthetic in dentistry. Gabbet’s 5., a solution containing methylene-blue, 2 gm.; sulphuric acid, 25 ¢.c., and water, 75 c.c. It is used as a deodorizer and contrast-stain for tubercle bacilli, Gannal’s s., solution of aluminum acetate. Golgi’s s., a mixture of 1 part of an 8 per cent. solution of pota ium bichromate with 2 parts of a 1 per cent. chromic acid solution. gram-molecular s., a solution of a substance containing a gram-molecule of the substance to a liter of the solution. Gram’s 3., iodin, 1 part, and pota ium iodid, 2 parts, di olved in 300 parts of water: used as a stain. Gull and’s 8., a mixture of 25 c.c. of absolute alcohol, 25 c.c. of ether, and 0.4 c.c. of a 20 per cent. alcoholic solution of corrosive sublimate. Hall’s s., solution of strychnin acetate. Harm's 8., a solution for hand disinfection consisting of commercial alcohol (94 per cent.), 640 c.c.; hydrochloric acid. 60 ¢.c.; water. 300 C.C.; Corrosive sublimate, 0.8 gm. Hayem’s 8., a fluid used in microscopic examination of the blood. It consists of corrosive sublimate, 0.5; sodium sulphate, 5; sodium chlorid, 1; and distilled water, 200. Huchard’s s., sodium phosphate, 10 parts; sodium chlorid, 5 parts; water, 100 parts: for injection in infectious diseases. Hiithnerfeld’s s., a solution of glacial acetic acid, 2 c.c.; distilled water, 1 c.c.; and oil of turpentine and alcohol, each, 100 c.c. hyper osmotic s., hypertonic s., a solution having an osmotic pre ure greater than that “of blood-serum. hAhyposmotic s., hypotonic s., a solution having an osmotic pre ure le than that of blood-serum. IKI 8., any aqueous solution of iodin (1) with the addition of ta ium jodid (KI) to render it more soluble. smotic 8. Same as isofonics. isotonic s., a solution having an osmotic pre ure the same as that of the blood-serum. Kaiser ling’s 8., a solution for preserving morbid ti ues, prepared by di olving 30 gm. of pota ium acetate and 1o gm. of pota ium nitrate in 750 c.c. of distilled water and adding 300 c.c. of formalin. Koppeschaar’s s8., a decinormal solution of bromin: used as a test. Labarraque’s a solution of chlorinated soda: disinfectant. See sodu, chlorinated. Lang’s s8., a solution of 0.75 gm. of sodium chlorid, 12 gm. of mercury per chlorid, 5 gm. of acetic acid, in 100 c.c. of distilled water. Leary’s 8., an antiseptic mouthwash consisting of an aqueous solution containing 1 per cent. of iodin and 2 per cent. of pota ium iodid. Locke’s 8., a solution of sodium chlorid, 0.9 per cent.; calcium chlorid, 0024 per cent.; sodium chlorid, 0.042 per cent.; sodium bicarbonate, 0.01 to 0.03 per cent.; and glucose, 0.1 per cent. It is used in physiologic experiments to keep the mammalian heart beating. Lé6ffler’s s8., a solution of toluol and iron in alcohol: used locally in diphtheria. See LéysHer's method, under stain. Lugol’s s., the official compound solution of iodin. Dose, 1-10 min. (0.c66-0.606 c.c.). Magendie’s s., a solution of 16 gr. of morphin sulphate in 1 fl.oz. of water: used for hypodermic injection. Mathieu's 5., sodium sulphate, 6 parts; sodium phosphate, 4 parts; sodium chlorid, 1 part; glycerin, 20 fluid parts: water, roo fluid parts: for injection in infectious diseases. Mayer's s., a solution of 1 part each of pota ium phosphate, magnesium sulphate, and calcium phosphate in 200 parts of water: a bacterial culture-liquid. Monsel’s 8., a styptic solution of basic ferric sulphate or sub sulphate; liquor ferri sub sulph at is. Naegeli’s 8., a culture solution in 1000 c.c. of distilled water of 1 gm. of dibasic pota ium phosphate, 0.2 gm. of magnesium sulphate, o.1 gm. of calcium chlorid, and 10 gm. of ammonium tartrate.
